House Call FAQ's
What services are provided during a house call?
Examinations, nail trims, vaccinations, skin and ear care, flea control, drawing of some blood samples, assessment of teeth and gums.
If your patient is ill and needs additional work at our facility, T.H.E. Westside Cat Practice, we will schedule that visit and provide an estimate of costs.
We will determine whether professional dental cleaning, oral x-rays and periodontal treatment are needed and will schedule the work and provide an estimate of costs.
Euthanasia, in the comfort and privacy of your own home. We provide assistance with and handling of the remains. Please see Hospice and Euthanasia FAQ's for more details.
What geographical areas are approved for house call services?
We provide House Call services to the following areas:
- Marina del Rey
- Playa del Rey
- Santa Monica
- Mar Vista
- Culver City (please call to confirm that we service your exact location)
What if your cat runs away or hides under the bed whenever anyone but the family comes into the house?
When this is the case, we require that you confine your cat to a bathroom or in a carrier before we arrive, preferably at the time you normally feed your cat.
We will need a cleared table or countertop to work from.
Who can be expected to arrive at your house?
Dr. Kent as well as an experienced technician who will assist on her visit.
What if my cat becomes too frightened or excited to handle?
We may use a mild tranquilizer that would allow us to provide the necessary care for the exam.
Or we may recommend transporting the patient to our facility for a more thorough exam or additional treatments in our clinic.
If transportation to the clinic is required for additional services is the fee included in the house call or Concierge membership?
Whenever possible, we recommend that you transport your own cat to our facility or a specialty or emergency clinic.
However, we can sometimes arrange transportation in an emergency, for an additional fee.
How is payment handled?
We require payment in advance of the call for the visit itself and additional charges will be paid at the time of service by cash, check or credit card.
**Note - You will be charged a cancellation fee of $100.00 fee for any cancellation made less than 24 hours before a scheduled appointment.
