Hospice and Home Euthanasia FAQ's
What geographical areas will Dr. Kent travel to for a home euthanasia?
Westside of Los Angeles but give us a call to discuss.
What is the cost of a home euthanasia?
The fee for home euthanasia services is $300.00 if you are located within the areas listed above.
Additional fees will be added for travel outside of those areas.
Additional fees will be added for euthanasia services outside of our regular hours of operation which are 10am-10pm.
What happens once Dr. Kent arrives to the house?
Dr. Kent will bring an assistant to help with the initial set up and handling of the remains.
Your patient will first be receiving a powerful sedative*. You are welcome to hold your cat on your lap to lean in close to them on a table or countertop for the sedation process, which takes a few minutes to reach maximum effect.
After the patient is completely unaware of the external environment or any stimuli, Dr. Kent will then give the final euthanasia injection.
Who is allowed to be present for the euthanasia?
We encourage family members and close friends to be present for the euthanasia, if they are comfortable with the process.
Please respect space restrictions in order to avoid crowding or noise that may upset your kitty.
We feel strongly that it is inappropriate to allow children under the age of 10 to be in the same room after we give the sedative.
We are available to discuss your specific family arrangements and preferences in advance of the visit.
What does the aftercare process entail?
In most instances, we will transport the body to Center Sinai, where the crematory service will pick them up within 48 hours.
We can also assist you in arranging for the crematory or cemetery service to pick up the body directly from your home.
